System VI™ Switchgear

Construction

System VI unit with Vista UDS load distribution sections and air transition bays:

System VI Switchgear
  1. Voltage indicators lift up to reveal large viewing windows.
  2. Padlockable lift-up covers are hinged for convenient access to operating and termination compartments.
  3. Incoming section. Any combination of load-interrupter switches and fault interrupters can be furnished, for a total of six ways. Unit shown has two load-interrupter switches.
  4. Termination compartment accommodates cables, elbows, surge arresters, and feedthru inserts.
  5. Metering bay includes voltage and current transformers (door removed to show internal components).
  6. Outgoing section. Unit shown has four ways, each with single-pole fault interrupters (Three-pole fault interrupters are also available).
  7. Operating panel with operating mechanisms, viewing windows, voltage indicators, and low-voltage phasing provisions.
  8. S&C’s Ultradur® Finishing System — the industry’s best finish protects enclosure from corrosion.

  1. Terminals are equipped with 600-ampere bushings or 200-ampere bushing wells.
  2. Compact welded-steel tank protects switching and protection components from the environment.
  3. Optional voltage indication with test feature includes LCD that indicates when voltage is present. Solar panel provides power for testing integrity of entire voltage-indication circuit.
  4. Pressure gauge (under window) is temperature and altitude compensated.
  5. Operating mechanisms for switches and fault interrupters are padlockable in any position.
  6. Operation selector prevents inadvertent operation from closed position directly to ground, and vice versa.
  7.  Microprocessor-based overcurrent control housed in watertight enclosure. CTs (not visible) provide power and signal inputs.
