Introducing New S&C Type SMD® Power Fuse with Silicone-Housed Composite Insulators.

Type SMD Power Fuses with silicone-housed composite-polymer insulators

S&C’s new Type SMD Power Fuses with silicone-housed composite-polymer insulators weigh 30 to 40% less than porcelain-insulator-equipped mountings, so they’re easier to handle and install. The insulators are highly break resistant, making them ideal for vandal-prone areas. The UV-resistant, hydrophobic insulators offer vastly superior performance in coastal and high-pollution areas.

Type SMD Power Fuses provide reliable, economical protection for transformers and capacitor banks in outdoor substations served at voltages of 34.5 kV through 138 kV. They’re offered in maximum continuous current ratings of 100 to 300 amperes, in a variety of fault-interrupting ratings. Fuse units are available in three different speeds: Standard, Slow, and Very Slow. This broad selection of ampere ratings and speeds permits closer fusing, for maximum protection and optimum coordination.
