2008 IEEE/PES T&D Conference & Exposition a Huge Success.

The 2008 IEEE/PES Show, held in Chicago, Illinois on April 22–24 this year, is now history. But, this year’s show proved to be the best attended IEEE/PES Show in recent years. The total attendance was over 13,000, of which more than 7,500 were potential customers. Those attendees came to see more than 600 exhibits from 23 countries.

S&C’s exhibit was the hit of this year’s show displaying an array of innovative products. Highlighted was the IntelliRupter® PulseCloser, a unitized package of fault-interrupting and control components which provides fault isolation and circuit restoration functions on 15.5-kV and 27-kV overhead distribution systems. S&C also exhibited the innovative TripSaver™ Dropout Recloser, which eliminates the permanent outages that can result when lateral fuses operate in response to momentary faults. S&C’s exhibit also featured:

IntelliTEAM II® Automatic Restoration System — is now the universal solution for self-healing, rapid automatic restoration systems. It is the only distributed intelligent solution that has been made a system-wide standard, with over a hundred different customers and thousands of switching points world-wide.
S&C Universal Interface Module — other intelligent electronic devises not of S&C manufacture can now be incorporated into the IntelliTEAM II Automatic Restoration System with its use. The module enables the host device to communicate with other team members and implement IntelliTEAM II restoration decisions.
Scada-Mate CX™ Switching Systems — a compact, economical alternative for automating overhead distribution feeders on systems through 29 kV.
PureWave DSTATCOM® Distributed Static Compensator — ideal for wind farm applications, provides fast voltage recovery for transmission and distribution systems.
Vista® Underground Distribution Switchgear — a single-way model specially designed to fit through wind tower doors, offered in rating of 15.5 kV through 38 kV.
Series 2000 Circuit-Switchers rated 2000 A Continuous — ideal for line-switching applications where this higher rating is required.

Representatives from S&C’s Power Systems Services were also on hand to discuss the wide array of services available from S&C . . . from arc-flash studies to complete project management for wind farm collector systems and interconnect substations.
